Thanks to Alison Motluk of the excellent HeyRepro publication for sending you my way. This can be a lonely place, and it helps to realize that there are others who understand firsthand, or are interested in learning more about this, um, experience. (I first typed “experiment”, which probably is no coincidence. It’s how I often think of myself now. Or it’s part of my identity. More on that later.)
I hope to connect with more donor conceived people and hear your stories. I’m especially interested in the “surprise!” and/or late in life experiences, for obvious reasons. Also super curious to hear from anyone who has a sibling who was not DC. Part of the weirdness of my discovery was learning that my younger brother is biologically related to both our parents but I’m not. It’s what made the unraveling that much more confusing.
It’s coming up on a year since I started finding out. I sometimes want to revisit the flurry of texts and emails from those weeks, but can’t bring myself to do so. It’s probably a good instinct.
